Directions to Site: Access to this "island" Mälaren is easiest from the E20 to Malmby, just SE of Strängnäs, follow the local road to Stallarholmen to enter the island; once on the island stay right (east) in the direction of Tuna; Ytterselö is just N of the latter.
Font Notes:
Described and partially illustrated by L. Karlsson (1985: 159): a chalice-type font of the shape and period abundant in Sweden and totally covered in lively ornamentation, chiefly animal. The basin is cylindrical in its upper part, with a tall chamferred underbowl which has an arcade all aound; in the arches there appear to be several animals represented, the arches themselves also ornamented. The base is round with several animals in high-relief on it. [NB: to be visited and documented]
