Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Hutton (1957) as a "Tudor stoup with pedestal beside S door." The holy-water stoup stands indeed outside the porch, on the right side, and appears polygonal both of basin and base, and covered with ornamentation. The stoup is illustrated in James (1930), built partly into the wall; the basin is ornamented with several large angels; the upper pedestal of the base has small square compartments with motifs inside, while the rest of the pedestal is covered in a blind arcade of trefoil arches [NB: it is difficult to tell the true shape of the object, but it appears polygonal]. Noted and illustrated in Knott's page [www.suffolkchurches.co.uk/Blythburgh.htm].
