Described in Lasteyrie (1926-1927) as a holy-water stoup in the cathedral of Nevers which matches the type and ornamentation of those of the 15th century. Two cast-iron stoups are listed in this church in Palissy [ref.:PM58000351]: "2 bénitiers [...] en forme de mortiers plats munis de trois anses [...] fonte de fer". On-site notes: one of two cast-iron holywater stoups found in this cathedral church; this one, located on the south side, has the usual mortar-like shape and is lined with cement/concrete; it has three handles on the basin sides at 120-degree angles and several thin parallel mouldings around the basin sides. It is mounted on an octagonal stone pedestal base probably contemporary with the basin. The cathedral has a marble baptismal font of the 18th-19th century.
