A font cover crane of the late-15th or early-16th century here is noted in Esquié (1880). Lasteyrie (1926-1927) mentions a font cover with rich High Gothic decoration which existed (?) by the baptismal font at the church of Saint-Pierre of Louvain. Also mentioned in Bond (1908) in relation to the crane used to raise the cover. The present cover, however is from 1958, on the bronze font of the late-15th century; the iron bracket which raises/swings the cover is also 15th-century. The font itself consists of a hexafoiled basin with moulded upper rim, raised on six columns resting on arches which in turn rest on lion protomes. The lower volume of the tall lid matches the hexafoiled shape of the basin in reverse, with a traceried railing all around; the upper volume is a hexagonal pyramid with crocketed arrises and figures at the lower corners; floral finial with a triple loop to which the hook of the wich connects; the large wrought-iron bracket if affixed to the nearby wal; and is decorated with traceried open-work and large scrolled vegetation.
