Saint-Thurien / St-Thurien

Described and illustrated in Le patrimoine des communes du Finistère (1998) as a 16th-17th-century holy-water stoup; apparently, the ledge on one of the sides was meant to accommodate it against the wall but it was placed on a cylindrical base in the 19th century. The basin has twisted rib pattern. The Palissy entry [ref.: IM27005514] for the church furnishings includes the baptismal font but gives no details of it: "Fonts baptismaux ; plaque funéraire ; harmonium ; statue ; verrière ; chaire à prêcher". The entry for this church in Fondation du Patrimoine [https://www.fondation-patrimoine.org/les-projets/eglise-de-saint-thurien/86360] [accessed 5 May 2025] mentions a granit "baptistère" [font?] from the original 13th-century church and a later holy-water stoup in the nave: "Du sanctuaire primitif ne reste plus aujourd’hui que le baptistère en granit datant du XIIIe siècle. D’autres éléments, précieusement conservés, témoignent de l’histoire millénaire de ce lieu : le bénitier dans la nef, les fonts baptismaux ainsi que le petit calvaire en granit."
