Enlart (1902) lists it as 16th-17th century font with a wooden baldaquin. In Bond (1908: 301), probably after Enlart, but gives the département as Côtes-du-Nord, and compares this font cover to the one in Trunch (Norfolk) [NB: Bond's comparison is between the cover at trunch and the baldaquin in Morlaix]. The baldaquin, not the font itself, is listed in Palissy [ref.: PM29000592]: "Baldaquin des fonts baptismaux [...] 1660". Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: AP52P01152, AP08L01857, AP29W02716, OA029_20202902703, etc.] Baptismal font made of black marble, consisting of a hemispherical basin with a thick roll moulding at the upper rim; the basin interior is divided into two large cavities, only one of which has drain hole, and a smaller one for the baptism oils, etc.; raised on a quadrangular pedestal base of the baluster-type. The metal cover is a low dome with a large Christ-on-the-cross finial. The wooden baldaquin is said to date from 1660; the font may be contemporary. [NB: the original church dates from the mid-12th century, but we have no information on its original baptismal font]
