Font Notes:
Described in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?) and in Domeño (1992): baptismal font from ca. 1200, contemporary with the church itself, in the early Gothic style; hemispheric basin raised on a cylindrical base, both plain. Not recorded in the Enciclopedia del románico en Navarra (2008). The font consists of a plain cylindrical basin with a curved underbowl, raised on a plain cylindrical pedestal base, and a round-to-square lower base; the latter is adorned with a double moulding around the centre and with ball motif at two of the angles [though at least one is missing]. The upper rim of the basin is much worn, as it had been used for sharpening farming tools [or Napoleon's soldiers bayonets, as the locals are quick to point out], which may indicate it is probably made of sandstone; one side of the basin is now flat; it is not clear whether it always was, or it was trimmed to fit against a wall at a later date. There are patches of red and blue paint on the basin and stem [cf. Index entry for Eristain No. 2 for a holy-water stoup of the same period in this church]
