Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?- , vol. V*: 69 and pl. 68) Domeño (1992: 143 and pl. 171): medieval baptismal font; the hemispheric basin has a band of ball motif alternating with 7-petal flowers at the upper rim; below it, the basin has ribbed pattern with vertical rows which include the same motifs found at the rim; the square stem of the base has half-columns at the corners; the lower base is square with ball motif at the corners [at least one of the balls is broken off or totally eroded; there are signs of crude repairs at the joint of the stem and lower base). The rest of the font is in fair condition with minor damage apparent at the rim. The cover is flat and plain, made of wood. The Enciclopedia General Navarra (1990, v. 3: 19 and ill. on p. 18) suggests a probable 16th-century date for this font; both the CMdeN and Domeño have it as "medieval". [We are grateful to the Institución Príncipe de Viana, of Pamplona, Spain, for the images of this font: one [ca. 1943] from their Archivo Uranga, the other [ca. 1992] by photographers Larrión & Pimoulier]
