Described and illustrated in the Catálogo Monumental de Navarra (1990?- ) and in Domeño (1992); Romanesque baptismal font; the cylindrical basin has its sides ornamented with a row of widely spaced ball motif inscribed in a scotia that stops at the back on the sides of a large pointed arch; the sides below have a blind arcade of round arches resting on capitals and double columns, except that one of the arches, now [December 2010] at the back of the font, facing north, is larger and definitely pointed, which must be an indication to the early-Gothic date of the font; plain hemispheric underbowl; the stem of the base is almost cylindrical pedestal, though slightly narrower at top, and the lower base is square, both plain, and both drastically cleaned (if not re-cut). Although of a simple design and decoration, this font is elegant and well-proportioned. Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en Navarra (2008), which suggests similarity with the font at Grez, also in Navarra. Simeón Hidalgo Valencia (e-mail of 2 May 2014 to BSI) suggets the existence of a workshop in the valleys of Izagaondoa, Lizoáin, Unciti and Urraúl Bajo, which would include the fonts at Artáiz, Cemboráin, Grez, Idoate, Lérruz, Najurieta, Reta, Zuazu, and others in the area: "hermosa pila bautismal de muy probable cronología románica, cuya taza se decora con una arquería sobre dobles columnas, que recuerdan al aspecto que pudo haber tenido el claustro de la catedral de Pamplona del segundo cuarto del siglo XII . Se completa con una moldura decorada con bolas. Su decoración es cercana a otras pilas probablemente coetáneas, como la de Grez."
