Inscription] which includes the date 1692. The base is a square pedestal of the bulbous or baluster type raised on a square limestone lower base. Described and illustrated in Le patrimoine... Sarthe (2001, v. 1: 473), which informs that the donor was "Honorat Gomer, sieur des Jaunières, receveur des gabelles du grenier à sel de Montmirail" [=collector of the salt-tax from the salt-mill of Montmirail]; this same source (ibid.) informs that the low-dome zinc lid of the stoup was found ca. 1999 at the top of the bell-tower. [NB: this same Honorat de Gomer donated a holy-water stoup to the church of Lamnay - cf. Index entry].
