Font Notes:
Described in Delcor (1973) as a square font discovered in the little chapel of Santa Margarita ca. 1961. Described and illustrated in Palol (1967) as a sunken font which has probably undergone modifications through its existence [="modificaciones que únicamente podrán poner en claro nuevas y metódicas excavaciones"]; at the time, Palol (ibid.) describes it as a square font made of poor quality stone that was probably covered in a marble veneer all around; traces of this veneer are found on the E side of the font; water conduits, also in marble and of a semicircular section, were found all around the sides of the font. Palol (ibid.) points out that the font was originally more complex, with a square external plan, an octagonal second level and a square well. In Khatchatrian (1982). In Utrero Agudo (2006). [cf. Index entry for Ampurias No. 1 for the baptistery itself]
