Church Notes: Delcor (1973), quoting Botet y Siso [cf. Author notes] informs that Ampurias was a bishopric whose first bishop, Paulus, lived ca. 516 and the last one in 693; the actual church from that time has disappeared.
Described in Delcor (1973) as a square baptistery in the little chapel of Santa Margarita; the square baptismal font was discovered there ca. 1961 and is dated by Palol (1967: 154 et al.] to the 6th century or later. In Khatchatrian (1982). In Utrero Agudo (2006). Noguera Massa (2007) notes as doubtful. [cf. Index entry for Ampurias No. 2 for the font itself]
