Church Notes: According to Hubbard (1986) and the GENUKI WEB site (http://www.genuki.org.uk], the church of St. Cynfryd was mentioned in the Norwich Taxation of 1254; it was mostly destroyed in 1732; the new building was in ruins by 1868 and a new one, the current one, was consecrated in 1869.

Hubbard (1986) writes, quoting Goodhart-Rendell) that "An ancient square bowl has been superseded by 'a sentimental but galumphing white angel with a shell that is so comical that it must distract everybody terribly.'" No mention is made in Hubbard whether or not the old basin is still around.
