Baptismal font discribed in Hubbard (1986) as having a "bowl with moulded corners and carving which includes incised roundels, a motif which appears also on the contemporary low-pitched font cover, along with turned finials." Dated to 1662. The Chirk and Ceiriog web site [http://www.chirk.com/stmary5.html] notes: "The Font by the north west door bears the initials of the churchwardens for 1662, one of whom was Thomas Pritchard (1619 - 1690), chief agent at the Castle and Clerk of the Peace for the County of Denbigh. The Font replaced that destroyed during the Civil War." [NB: the fabric of the old church is of the late 12th century [RCAHM dating] but we have no information on the earlier font of this church]
