The font at Montlevon is noted in the 'Annales de la Société historique et archéologique de Château-Thierry', meeting of 12 May 1865 (p. 12, in which a M. Barbey [Barbet?] gave a communication that included comments as well as a drawing of the baptismal font at Montlevon; this intervention is reiterated by the president of the Société, M. Hachette, at the 8 December 1865 meeting. [NB: unfortunately the original drawing is not appended to the record of the meetings]. A description of the Montlevon font is however recorded in a report by M. Barbet and M. Moulin to the meeting of the said Société on 4 November 1880 (p. 437 of the Annales...): "Les fonts baptismaux en pierre dure sculpté sont d'une bonne conservation; ils consistent en une cuve octogonale supporté par seize colonnes torses accouplés deux par deux, chaque coin, et surmontés d'une arcade gothique. Described in the Dictionnaire des églises... (1966- ) simply as a sculptured baptismal font of the 15th century.
