The present parish church was a originally a chapel; it became parochial when the older church was destoyed in the 16th-century religious wars. The present font is made of a bluish-grey limestone, and consists of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a pedestal base; the shape of the inner basin, divided into two round basins and smaller compartments for the holy oils, indicates this is probably a modern font, of the reconstruction period and not, as some local information suggested, a re-cycled font from the old church. Across the nave from the font, by the south doorway is a large holy-water stoup also on the bluish-grey limestone as the font, and probably made to be a pair with it. [cf. BSI entry for Louresse-Rochemenier No. 1]
