Noted in Bourricaud (1880) among a group of ancient fonts in the area, very interesting and worthy of further study. Described in Crozet (1966- ) as an octagonal Romanesque baptismal font ornamented with imbrication and geometric motif. In his later work, L'art roman en Saintonge (1971), Crozet illustrates the font which he describes as "d'une exécution parfaite"; its design iis very regular, elegant, with each panel covered in a particular motif, honey-comb, imbrication, saw-tooth... Listed and illustrated in the Palissy database [référence PM17000375] with date in the 16th century. The Patrimoines des communes... Charente-Maritime (2002) [Flohic ref.: 17021302] illustrates the same font as octagonal inside and out, also with date in the 16th century .
