There is a 1878 detailed drawing of this object by Victor Ruprich-Robert (1820 - 1887) in the Musée d’Orsay [https://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/artworks/fonts-baptismaux-dans-une-eglise-de-castelnau-62907] [accessed 12 August 2024], the drawing is captioned: "Fonts baptismaux dans une église de Castelnau"; it shows details and measurements of the object. Described in the Dictionnaire des églises.. (1966- ) as a 15th century stoup ornamented with shields alternating with Gothic monograms of Christ and St. Mary, and crude heads; the latter are reminiscent of a Romanesque style. Noted and illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: APMH00079232]: "Bénitier [...] 15e siècle". In Palissy [ref.: PM81000091]: "Bénitier [...] octogonal [...] Pierre [...] Ornementation (tête, écu, fleur de lys) [...] H = 28 ; d = 46 ; cuve ; pied : h = 50". Noted and illustrated in the web site of the Diocèse d'Albi [https://albi.catholique.fr/eglises-du-tarn/castelnau-de-levis-eglise-saint-barthelemy/] [accessed 12 August 2024]: "Bénitier de grès du XVe orné de monogrammes du Christ et de la Vierge, de quatre têtes de factures expressives et de fleurs de lys. Classé aux Monuments historiques en 1904." A September 2013 photograph by Thérèse Gaigé [cf. ImagesArea] shows a partial view of a disused vessel in the porch of the church; it looks very much like a tub-shaped basin of a baptismal font, one side of the upper rim damaged probably by a metal anchoring of an old font that split the stone.
