Font Notes:
Described in the Dictionnaire des églises.. (1966- ) as a stoup which has an Agnus Dei in relief at the bottom of the basin well [NB: the source reads "Bénitier en marbre, portant au fond, en relief, l'agneau pascal"]. On-site notes: one of two almost identical holy-water stoups, this one has indeed an Agnus Dei carved on the bottom of the inner basin well. [NB: a number of fonts and/or stoups have fish, or even a frog, carved on the inside of the basin well -- cf. Index entries for Acerenza, Courseoult, Dinan, Narbonne, etc.] The basin is almost hemispherical and it rests on a cylindrical upper base and an octagonal square lower base and square plinth. [NB: our gratitude to M. l'abbé of Carbonne, Pierre Dintilhac, and example of French hospitality and bonhomie at its best, who not only gave us access to the font and stoups in his own church, but also guided us personally to three other interesting sites in the surrounding area, all of it in the most miserable weather possible in the middle of summer!]
