Described and illustrated in the Dictionnaire des églises... (1966- ) as a most interesting holy-water stoup: it is the lower part of a [Gallo-Roman?] marble statue, a human figure wearing toga and sandals, which has been hollowed to use as stoup; the source [cf. supra] identifies it as an elegantly dressed male. On-site notes: the object is in very good state of repair; the basin well is only 8 cm deep. [NB: in contrast with the beauty of this classical statue-cum-stoup, the vessel used in this church as baptismal font is one of the most unsightly objects ever devised: it consists of a former wall-mounted dark marble stoup which has been detached from the wall and stood atop a crude column of bricks [cf. Images]; twenty lashes o' the cat for the perpetrator!]
