Described in the Dictionnaire des églises.. (1966- ) as a baptismal font of the late Middle Ages with naïve low-relief sculpted scenes: bear hunting, stag hunting, musicians, dancers, acrobats, etc. [cf. also Index entry Aucun No. 1 for the stoup in this church, which shares some of the iconographic themes but in a much cruder execution]. On-site notes: the shallow basin (its well is only 20 cm deep) has splayed-inside sides with a graded chamfer; the upper band, the basin side proper has a long and very rich iconographic program which includes (L->R):1) two antlered deer stand on their hind legs at the sides of a tree; 2)a human standing holds a staff in his right hand while the left raises a horn to his mouth; 3)three dogs facing left; 4)a stag is being attacked by another dog; 5) a horseman carrying a lance raises it towards the stag; 6)a musician playing the flute; 7) a male and a female dance holding hands; 8)an acrobat stands on his head; 9)another acrobat jumps in the air while holding his leg; 10)two dancing couples; 11)a musician plays the bag-pipe; 12) a dog sitting on its haunches has a mask floating above it; 13)marriage scene: man to the right, woman to the left of a person who holds their hands; farther to the left, two female (?) figures who obviously form part of the scene; 14)bag-piper following the previous scene and probably part of it as well; 15)four-petal flower; 16) a stone carver portrayed working a block of stone, his tools of trade shown above; 17)quadruped (dog?) which may form part of the first scene. The second band of the chamfered basin side has half-ball motifs at regular intervals; the third band is plain. The stem of the base is a plain cylindrical column and the lower base is cylindrical and plain as well, but wider.
