Font Notes:
Listed and illustrated in Le patrimoine des communes d'Ille-et-Vilaine (2000). It is rather uncommon stoup, and it looks more like a baptismal font, even more so than some of the larger stoups of this area. The large basin is perfectly hemispheric and of white marble; the upper part of the basin sides is ornamented with four of the sort of quasi-grotesque heads one finds in 'mascarons' (bearded, with odd ears and rather impish); it rests on a squat but nicely rendered square base of the same material.
