Listed and illustrated in Le patrimoine des communes de la Loire-Atlantique (1999) as a granite stoup of the 12th-13th century; it is reported that five such stoups were found during excavation work in this abbey, two of which have now been wall-mounted as stoups [cf. Index entry for Saint-Philbert..., No. 2]; the source further tells that the four stumps -characteristic of this type of mortar-shaped stoup- were originally "des visages sculptés, qui ont été altérés par les temps." (Ibid., v. 2, p. 1231)
