Described and illustrated in Delcor (1973): tub-shaped font in one piece of coarse granite, originally from the old church located in the cemetery grounds; it was moved to the new church which was inaugurated in 1808. Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- ). The upper area of the basin side has a simple braid motif; the bottom part has double-braided rope motif ornamentation; in between these two, the sides are divided into fifteen round arches, some with and some without columns; Delcor (ibid.) suggests that the contents of these arches can be grouped in four "tableaux": 1)the fight between Christ and Satan (arches i-iii); 2)Christ, Tree of Life, replaces the Tree of Science (arches iv-vii); 3)transmission of the Original Sin (arches viii-xi); 4)the Sacrament of Baptism and Christ's victory (xii-xv). On-site notes: the large basin has been fitted with a steel pivot which allows one -with considerable effort- to rotate the basin around, thus giving the viewer access to all its wonderful ornamentation. Individually the ornamental elements read thus: on the rim, an acanthus vine; on the basin isdes, (L->R): snake - figure holding a cross - baptismal font of the same shape as this one with protruding human head - officiating priest - cleric with book - tree of life/plant - rampant lion facing right - rampant lion facing left - snake or dragon with coiled tail - human figure dancing or jumping - tree of life/plant - bird facing left - male figure - female figure - snake/lizzard on a tree - cleric wearing a stole. There is no cover present now byt there is evidence of changes made to the upper rim to accommodated and anchoring or locking mechanism for a font cover.
