A chalice-shaped font appears in the drawing of the cloister done by F.J. Parcerisa on October 5, 1844 [in Recuerdos y bellezas de España: Aragón, 1844, between pages 206 and 207 -- lithograph in BSI archive]; the font was in the cloister enclosure, tumbled on its side and with the upper part of the basin badly broken. Later inquires by BAPTISTERIA SACRA at the Monasterio de San Juan de la Peña failed to elucidate the later fate of this object. [NB: although it is theoretically possible that such an inclusion be a license on the part of the artist, it is very unlikely that an object of that shape whould have been added whimsically in such a location; the object does not look like a cloister fountain; it may, however, have been a former font later used as a garden ornamentation as it has happened in many other cases.]
