Church Notes: There are two "Notre-Dame" churches in this town, the later one, from the 16th century, is called "Notre-Dame de la Râche" [= Our Lady of the Leprosy]. The older church has the listed font, some interesting polychrome capitals and also a 11th cent. crypt with three naves.
Listed in Le Patrimoine des communes de l'Allier (1999, v. 2, p. 719) as a 12th-century baptismal font. The basin is hemispheric with an upper broad band bearing a geometric pattern (or set of square arches?). The underbowl is rounded but has four narrowing bands down to the short stem of the base; it sits on a very flat square plinth and was, according to the source [cf. supra], placed at the left of the church entrance until it was moved to its present location near the choir.
