A font here is included in Palissy [ref.: IM67009459], Inventaire général du patrimoine culturel, Le mobilier de l'église paroissiale Saint-Pierre Saint-Paul (liste supplémentaire), without further details. It has a separate entry in Palissy [ref.: IM67009460]: "Fonts baptismaux [grès (rose)] de section hexagonale, en forme de calice. [...] [...] Initiales IW gravées sur le pied. [...] 16e siècle" [NB: the basin is octagonal, not hexagonal]. Octagonal sandstone font dated by inscription to 1671, The octagonal basin, painted in white and gold, has an running inscription around the upper border of the basin which, according to our source (Patrimoine..., Bas-Rhin, 1999, v. 2, p. 1434), tells that it was blessed in 1671 by Christophe Siegel, parish priest from 1660 to 1671, while Adam Mehn was the town's 'Schultheiss' [=provost] and Littel was 'Heim burger' [=treasurer]. The long panels of the underbowl have individual floral motifs painted in gold on white background. The stem of the base and the square lower base are totally plain and unpainted except at the lower part of the stem where the date is inscribed in gold lettering. An octagonal gold-painted dome lid has a finial with two human figures. [NB: there appears to be a discrepancy between the two sources in their description of the font here; the photographic material we have [cf. ImagesArea] shows the font with a plain octagonal basin on an oddly-shaped pedestal base and a plinth -- to be resolved]
