A holy-water stoup at la Roche-Maurice is mentioned in Debidour (1953: 41n9) as bearing the inscription "Je vous tue tous". The Phaidon guide (France, 1985: 320) mentions a water stoup either in the stylobate or in the church itself, above which there is a depiction of Death who, "armed with an arrow cynically observes 'I kill you all'". Described and illustrated in Le patrimoine des communes du Finistère (1998); the basin itself is not unlike several others in this area of Brittany, hemispherical and ornamented with foliage and floral motifs; as several other stoups of this type [cf. Index entry for La Martyre No. 2], the area above the basin has "l'ankou", the skeleton of Death, this time armed with a large arrow above an inscription [cf. Inscription]
