Hemispheric mounted font dated to the late 15th century. The basin has ribbed pattern on which appear superimposed shields bearing coats of arms; the latter are identified in the source [cf. infra] as belonging to the House of Savoy and to Barthélemy Chuet, abbé of Saint-Pons and bishop of Nice, as well as another one bearing the arms of the unidentified donnor. (Le patrimoine des communes des Alpes-Maritimes, 2000, v. 2, p. 1024). The pedestal of the base has fluted motif broken in its middle by a horizontal braided motif, a motif repeated where base and underbowl meet. On-site notes: all the above confirmed; the basin appears to have been polished or re-worked recently, but this may have just been a thorough cleaning. [NB: this town has a public fountain that is originally from the cloister of Saint-Michel-de-Cuixa, according to Catalunya romànica (1984- , vol. VII: 392-393) -- the other one is in the Philadelphia Mueum of Art, in the U.S.]
