NB: [we have no information on the font(s) from the earlier [5th-13thC] churches here]. On-site notes: early 18th-century (1722) oval font with very large ribbed pattern raised on a very short base. The round basin has a wide lip at the rim and a deep scotia under it; plate with the date 1722 appears on the front of the upper rim; on the right, the initials IHS; on the left, a heart; at the back, a pilgrim shell; below that, a deep ribbed patern covers all the basin and the underbowl. The base has several mouldings on which appears a small Crucifixion as ornamentation. The lid is a medium dome made of copper. It is a very large and imposing font, some of which effect is probably due to its size, the large ribs and the brown hue of the marble. There is one more font in this church, the one in current use, a modern one of the 20th century; it is a monolithic round vessel of taperings sides which has the lower third carved with fish symbols all around. No cover present.
