Malézieux (1873), in an article about the fonts at Berthenicourt and Saint-Germain (nr. Guise) in Aisne, includes a number of fonts of similar date and design at "Vermand, La-Neuvelle-la-Corbie, Vendeuil, Saint-Simon, Marle, Montdidier, Ver", and fragments in the churches of "Etreillers, Ribemont, Fonsomme, Gauchy, Marteville". Described by Cloquet (1890, p. 416), with reference to the illustration in Viollet-le-Duc, as "absolument du type tournaisien". However, the illustration in Viollet-le-Duc, (Dictionnaire..., t. 5, 1875, p. 537, ill. 3) is not "tournaisien" at all, but rather like the font in the crypt of the cathedral of Chartres, that is, with the corner shafts connecting right at the outer corners of the basin, a characteristic not found in any of the Tournai fonts; V-le-Duc dates the Ver font to the 13th century. [NB: Viollet-le-Duc does show one font which matches Cloquet's description, the font at the parish church of St-Pierre of Montdidier, illustrated on the previous page, i.e., v. 5, p. 536, fig. 2].
