Font Notes:
Corblet (1881-1882) reports a chapel dedicated to the Saint-Sauveur on the island of St-Honorat, one of the Iles de Lérins: it is an octagonal building with an apse on each end, except that of the door. Corblet cites the abbé Pougnet [cf. Notes on Authors] on the claim that the priests of Lérins had usurped episcopal rights and that the "abbé" of the chapel had been given the right of baptism over those of the abbey who were born on the island. (Corblet, 1881-1882, v. 2, p. 66). In a second entry which appears to ignore the existence of the first, Corblet adds the name of M[onsieur]. Mérimée to those who believe it to be a baptistery and further reports that it was restored two decades earlier [i.e., ca. 1860] by the bishop of Fréjus. (Corblet, op. cit., p. 73)
