A holy-water stoup in this church is reported as a recycled historiated capital of the late 11th century, Romanesque in style, ornamented with foliage on the corners and scene[s?] of devils leading the condemned souls to Hell. It may have originally been part of the primitive local church. One of our sources, Abbad (1941: 313-314) qualifies it as a work in the Jaca local style [= "obra de carácter jaqués"] and as not being of great quality. Described and illustrated in Antonio García Omedes, www.romanicoaragones.com, who finds the work reminiscent of the style of the Master of Doña Sancha, but without the perfection of the latter; he describes the iconography as a representation of a fight between good and evil: in one side, a human figure with a cross over the head; two lame figures pulling the beard of a horned demon; a simian-faced figure, its head adorned with tapes, maintains an obscene pose between two other figures [García Omedes suggests this may a be a representatioon of Luxury]; large demon-like head between two other figures [NB: as this author points out, in the final count the devils win 3-1!]. The capital iteself stands on a base perhaps contemporary with it, but not related to it, as well as on a moderrn lower base pedestal [cf. Index entry for Bailo No. 2 for a baptismal font of later date in this church]
