Described and illustrated in Viollet-le-Duc (1875: t. 5, 1875, p. 542-543), Corblet (1881-1882: v. 2, p. 128) and Lasteyrie (1926-1927, vol. 2: 510) [after Viollet-le-Duc]: octagonal mounted font which these authors date to the end of the 13th century, although the crocketing of the arches of the basin sides points probably to a later century. Each of the eight sides contains a "mitre arch" [i.e., triangular] topped with a fleur-de-lis and crocketed; under the arches can be found different motifs such as triquetras, rosettes, small trefoil arches, plant motifs, etc., while the spandrels are filled chiefly with foliage motif. The underbowl appears plain and chamfered. The stem of the base is octagonal with a blind trefoil arch on each side. The lower base splays outwards slightly and is also octagonal.
