Vivier-Seguin (1941) describe this font as a plain granite octagonal basin mounted on a cylindrical column; at their time (ca. 1941) it had been moved from the parish church out to the village crossroads. The entry for this church in the French Wikipedia [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Église_Saint-Martin_de_La_Meurdraquière] [accessed 30 March 2025] reports a 16th-century font in it: "fonts baptismaux (XVIe siècle)".
