Le Héricher (1845), and Vivier-Seguin (1941) after him, describe this sarcophagus as a double font; it is a large rectangular object which widens at the narrow ends about 1/3 down, at the point where a zigzag band surrounds the basin side; V-S suggest that it may be dated to the 15th century. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM50005204]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Granite [...] H = 67 ; l = 144 ; la = 60 [...] 16e siècle [...] Revers façade ouest coté nord".
