Described in Vivier-Seguin (1941): a hexagonal font [cf. infra] mounted on five columns and dated to the 15th century. Vivier-Seguin describe the ornamentation as consisting of a pair of Ogee arches framed in a square moulding on each side of the basin; under each of the arches a carved coat of arms, most of their details hammered off, although V-S identify that of ther Argouge family and another of an allied family of theirs; they also tell about an illegible inscription which suffered the same fate. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM50000503]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Calcaire [...] La cuve est octogonale [...] 15e siècle [...] H = 100 ; d = 80 [...] Armoiries : (sur chaque face de la cuve)" [NB: the shields are on every other side of the basin; the alternate sides have no shields]. Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: APELR001470. AP80L022824, AP80L022825]. The different photographs of the font show two covers in use [cf. ImagesArea]: a pre-1928 photograph by Enlart shows an octagobal pyramidal cover with plain sides; the later digital photographs show an octagonal flat cover; there is significant damage to the upper area of the basin where the stone was split by one of the metal anchorings for the cover.
