Vivier-Seguin (1941) describe this as a badly mutilated font; originally hemispheric and resting on a 5-column base, it was, by the time they saw it (ca. 1941), already cut into an octagonal shape and had lost the colonnettes of the base. The font, as it stands now, is indeed a plain one consisting of an octagonal basin raised on a cylindrical pedestal base, all plain; the ground on which the font stands does skow the contours that match the description in Vivier-Seguin, which, if their description is correct, would have matched a font characteristic of theis area in the Romanesque period, whther the basin were hemispheric or table-top. The present wooden cover, a tall octagonal pyramid, is probably 18th-century.
