According to Vivier-Seguin (1941) this octagonal pedestal font was made to replace the Gothic font at the parish church in the 16th or 17th century; but is now [ca. 1941] used as a holy-water stoup. The Gothic font had recovered its original function by the time Vivier-Seguin documented the site in 1941 (Vivier, 1941)
