Described by Delpal as "modern holy-water stoup [...] supported by a grimacing demon" (France, 1985). Illustrated in Malle (1994) and the Dictionnaires des églises... (1996- ). The entry in Palissy [ref.: PM22000137] notes: "Ancienne cuve octogonale servant de bénitier. Elle est supportée par un personnage accroupi, grimaçant. [...] granite [...] d = 115 [...] 15e siècle [...] Le support serait de 1864." [NB: surely it could not refer to this item, yet we found no other that would meet the description]. [NB: cf. the BSI entry for Arles No. 2, a 12th-13th century stoup located in the cloister of the cathedral of St-Trophime in the town of Arles; this stoup has a similar design, but the figure in the latter, though damaged, does not appear to be a devil. The one that has a definite devil holding up the basin is the stoup at Rennes-le-Chateau]
