One of three fonts listed in this Index for Bazouges-la-Pérouse [one is modern]. A large rectangular granite font of the immersion type, this one even has a step (?) on the outside; the sides include: an eagle with a scroll, a winged bull with a scroll, an angel with a scroll and a winged lion with a scroll (symbols of John, Luke, Matthew and Mark), next to which appear a rosette, a leaf and a fleur-de-lis; the little "marche pied" of the base has three leaves carved on it . The font is dated as of the 14th century in Le patrimoine des communes d'Ille-et-Vilaine (2000). Listed in Palissy [ref.: IM35000712]: "fonts baptismaux [...] 15e siècle, 16e siècle (?) [...] Actuellement utilisé comme bénitier". The late dating is probably accurate enough despite the archaic shape of the font [similar to the font at Airaines, etc.]; the crude work on granite does not qualify this font for an earlier period.
