Font Notes:
Listed by Enlart (1902) as a 14th century font ornamented with arches. Malle (1994) dates the font at Ponts to the 15th-16th century; it is quasi-cylindrical, fashioned after some early Norman fonts; at the top of the basin sides there is a wide plain band; below it, and all the way to the bottom of the font, eight (?) Gothic arches with prominent capitals and a squat octagonal lower base. Vivier-Seguin (1941) date it to the 13th century after Le Héricher and describe the band around the upper part of the font as octagonal, which it is not; they also point out the three-leaf clover motifs in the spandrels of the arcade. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM50000859]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Pierre [...] H = 101 ; d = 82 [...] Ces fonts reposent sur une base octogonale passant au cercle, ornée de huit arcatures sculptées. La cuve est garnie d'ogives." Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: AP50W02496].
