It has been rebuilt and/or remodeled several times.

Listed by Enlart (1902) as a Renaissance pedestal font. Corblet suggests that a baptistery [cf. entry for Paris No. 7 in this Index] may have existed in the crypt of this church. (Corblet, 1881-1882, v. 2, p. 70). The Dictionnaires des églises... (1966- ) dates it to the 16th century. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM75002523]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Pierre [...] 1537 [...] H = 80 ; la = 123 ; pr = 80 [...] Armoiries, date : écusson portant deux clés en sautoir, accosté de rinceaux, et par derrière, le millesime 1537." The entry for this church in Wikipedia [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Pierre_de_Montmartre#cite_ref-16] [accessed 19 March 2025] notes: "The Chapel of Baptisms features an oval baptismal font, dating from 1537, and made in the form of the traditional cradle of Moses. The decoration on the font is in the Renaissance style" and gives "Dumoulin, Ardisson, Maingard and Antonello, Églises de Paris (2010), p. 183" as source.
