Listed by Enlart (1902) in a group of octagonal fonts of Gothic style. Lasteyrie (1926-1927), who gives the font at Beaufort-en-Santerre as similar to this one, describes the basin as having an arcade with figures under the arches and foliage motif as ornamentation. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM80000292]: "Fonts baptismaux [pierre] de forme pédiculée, polygonale [...] 16e siècle". Noted and illustrated in Richesses en Somme [www.richesses-en-somme.com/patrimoine-des-églises/fonts-baptismaux/fonts-bapt-du-14e-au-18e/] [accessed 1 May 2016] with the font at Allenay, as 14th-15th century. The font consists of an octagonal basin decorated with two bands or ornamentation separated by mouldings, a third one on the sounded underbowl; the upper band appears to be made up of foliage motifs; the second band is described in Enlart [cf. supra] as an arcade of round arches with figures in them; they are sketchy, stick figures at best; the band around the underbowl is decorated with foliage; raised on a moulded octagonal pedestal base. The wooden cover is round and flat, with metal decoration and ring handle; appears modern.
