Church Notes: a chapel is said to have existed here in the time of Herluin [early-11thC]; a church dedicated to Saint-Maclou is documented 1712, but there are remains of the 13thC and a Romanesque font in it -- listed in Mérimée [ref.: IA00054650]: "Nef 13e et 14e siècle ; ouvertures 15e siècle ; chevet construit ou reconstruit début 16e siècle ; tour clocher ajoutée 17e siècle ; baies agrandies 18e siècle ; restaurations de l'église en 1893 par Chalvon, architecte à Pont-Audemer".
Listed by Enlart (1902) as a 12th-century footless tub-shaped font (octagonal) ornamented with an arcade. Listed in Palissy [ref.: IM27000755]: "Cuve simple [calcaire]; cuvette [plomb] de fonts baptismaux à deux compartiments [...] ornementation (arcature) [...] traces de peinture [...] 12e siècle". [NB: the lead insert with a partition into two compartments must be a later addition, and the inner shape of the basin is probably round beneath it].
