Enlart (1902) describes this marble font as having been sculpted to imitate a wooden vat and dates it to the 11th century. [cf. Index entry for the fonts at Venasque and Perpignan for examples of this type, though they are quite different in shape from each other]. Others have dated this type of font to the 12th century. On-site notes: at the time of our visit [June 2001] the only baptismal font found in this church was a modern marble one made by the Ducroix of Avignon in 1882 [cf. Images section]. Neither the priest nor the wardens of the church or anyone else in this town had any knowledge of the original font or its present whereabouts.
