A font here is described and illustrated in Brutalis (1893-1899) as a par of old capitals arranged one on top of the other, the top one hollowed out to serve as basin; this arrangement, adds the source, is a modern one, but the capitals themselves are 13th-century and were originally likely from the refectory and chapter started by Pierre Mouret in 1267. One of several fonts listed by Enlart (1902) as having been made by the recycling of earlier objects, in this case "les chapiteaux d'un ancien pilier". This re-cycled font is listed in Palissy [ref.: PM80000485]: "Ces fonts baptismaux sont constitués de deux chapiteaux superposés [...] chapiteaux provenant de la première abbatiale [...] Forme octogonale [...] 13e siècle". Another baptismal font, of red veined marble, here is listed in Palissy [ref.: PM80002070]
