Cloquet (1895) describes the square mounted Tournai-type Gallaix font as being a later and logical development of the five-support earlier fonts, and argues that the four ornaments which appear at the corners of the lower platform of the base are the stylized remnants of the former supporting colonnettes, there being now only one, the central stem, element of the base. The sides of the square basin are ornamented with facing dragons. Enlart (1902) lists it among 11th-12th century fonts of the Tournai workshop. KIK-IRPA lists no font in Gallaix.
