Enlart (1902) mentions a 16th-17th century wooden baldaquin over the font. Delpal (1985: 536) describes it as "baptismal font with carved panels". A partial illustration of the Pont-Croix font in Malle (1994: 91) shows the top of a polygonal font with a flat wooden cover, the basin having a small second basin, also polygonal, attached. Bond (1908: 301) refers to it as a wooden baldaquin cover "of the Trunch type", without a reference to the font itself. The baptismal font itself is actually one of the double-font type typically French. It appears made of a single block of stone, with the larger volume being octagonal and equivalent to a regular font, with octagonal base and a flat and plain cover, also octagonal, provided with hinges at the back and a lock at the front. The auxiliary basin, the function of which is to drain the water used in the baptism, is much smaller, polygonal and, as indicated above, appears to have been carved from the same block; the ornamentation, as far as can be ascertained from the source, consists of several mouldings. The other elements of the baptistery corner are a very ornate painting on the wall serving as 'retable' or backdrop to the font, and the canopy decorated with several chubby angels or putti, and topped with a Latin cross finial. The font, backdrop and canopy are listed in Palissy [ref.: PM29000855]: "Fonts baptismaux et leur retable à baldaquin [...] Pierre : taillé ; bois : taillé [...] 17e siècle". Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: AP29W03675]
