On-site notes: octagonal basin mounted on an octagonal pedestal base. The basin has 8 figures, one at each corner, facing forward, arms extended; the space between the figures is filled with floral motifs. There is a band of ball-in-socket motif at the upper part of the chamfer, while the lower part has animal heads at the corners, in line with the figures of the basin. The base has 8 female (?) figures standing between the columns at the corners, each holding an object (chalice, skull, sword, etc.), probably a reperesentation of vices and virtues. Listed by Enlart (1902) as a French Renaissance baldaquin font, the basin octagonal. Listed in Palissy [ref.: PM27001283]: "Ces fonts présentent une cuve octogone pédiculée. Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: MHR28_20242700169]. Huard (1928) describes the font as stone peduncular of the 16th century. The lower base is made of several mouldings and goes below floor level. It has a 19th century wooden flat cover with round/ball handle. The Dictionnaire des églises... (1966- ) dates the font to the 16th century.
